109 F in Napa = Weingut Leitz 2004 Riesling Bookmark this Blog/Forum Post
This is going to be a quick tasting note which means I won’t get into why I am excited about the excessive pre-veraison heat and our poor little suffering vines. Let me set the stage: 109 in Napa, 105 in Sonoma + invitation to cool off in a pool and have some Riesling = no brainer. The 2004 Leitz Riesling, Kainett, Rüdesheimer Klosterlay from the Rheingau was a perfect accompaniment...

A weird, weird wine… Glovers Riesling Raisin Wine Nelson Unfortunately I do not know what vintage this wine was as it was unlabeled and I forgot to ask. It was one of the most bi-polar sensory experiences I have ever had but was very enjoyable and could go magnificently with an equally eccentric desert or cheese. The nose was one of the most sublime, mineral and lime driven delicate Riesling...

Stonechurch Vineyards - Riesling 2003 Bookmark this Blog/Forum Post
Stonechurch really did impress on our last Niagara outing. While none of us were overly familiar with their wines, and the Riesling was selected more to have something to taste than anything else, it was a moment of happy serendipity. The Stonechurch 2003 Riesling turned out not only to be passable, but in fact...

I have lots of riesling to get through but for some reason I seem to keep putting the tasting off and opening something else. Maybe I am finding it hard to get inspired by riesling. Perhaps I am going through the opposite of the so called riesling revival? Anyway I thought that it was high time I ... . Did someone mention a riesling revival? This is a beauty...

Hochkirch Riesling 2005 Bookmark this Blog/Forum Post
I have never heard of Hochkirch before, but Uncle Stew had the Riesling, Shiraz and Pinot Noir on tasting on Saturday, and I thought this was the pick of the bunch, so I bought a bottle. Now I believe this winery is near the town of Tarrington in South-West Victoria, so I think this means ... of nutmeg and cinnamon, and is almost viscous for a Riesling. The finish shows finer and leaner fruits...
