Jammy good balance, chocolate, black fruit, spice, licorice oak, leather, vanilla, black currant, strong finish tannins and fruit match well. If this wine was an image: A saucy buxum brunet in a purple dress sitting in dark brown velvet lazy-boy on a garnet shag rug.

Nose is thick and musty - reminds me of slightly bad milk. Firm body and slightly sweet, hints of oak. Thick! Vanilla on the finish. Slightly fruity. Good but not great.

Deep grenadine with dark ruby hues. Lovely warm intense fruit reminiscent of brambles and ripe raspberries, mingling with minty chocolate and oaky vanilla aromas. Soft cashmere tannins melt in the mouth. Rich, fruity and a long, lingering finish. The wine has a roundness and innate harmony, which belies its intensity, strength, and concentration.



Wine Advocate The 2004 Emigre, a Rhone-based blend of Grenache, Shiraz, and Mourvedre as well as Carignan and Cabernet Sauvignon, exhibits a sweet perfume of graphite, black fruits, sweet cherries, licorice, smoke, and background vanillin. Full-bodied, rich, textured, and impressively long, it should drink well for 10-15 years ... minimum. Score: 94. —Robert Parker, October 2006.

Ripe and broad, with a dried tomato note weaving through the ripe currant and plum flavors. Persists well, with a licorice note adding interest to the rangy finish. Shiraz, Grenache, Cabernet Sauvignon and Mourvèdre with Carignane and Muscadelle. Best after 2008. 250 cases imported. –HS

Wow, for $12, this was really great wine, perfect for a mid-week dinner.

Jack: a little sour

Light and Spicy, little nose, tart finish

Excellent. Like a good surf.

Color: Inky purple and red



Nose: Dusty, with distinct red and blue fruit, but topped off with some lighter notes of floral and white fruit. Oak is nicely in the supportive role.



Palate: Quite restrained and tightly wound, but with good fruit from the nose, medium to full body, and tannins that are strong yet still rounded. Long finish that includes some toast, dust and red fruit, ending with violets.

54% Cabernet Sauvignon, 46% Shiraz. A firm, fine-grained and tight-knit blend based on vibrant and deeply flavoured cabernet and shiraz fruit. Its smoky, lightly meaty aromas of cassis, sweet plums and mocha/chocolate oak are backed by minty undertones of violets and menthol. Fine and silky, it’s long, willowy and charming, presenting a purity of fruit rare for this vintage. With a fleshy, creamy texture framed by bony tannins, it offers genuine elegance and refinement – hardly qualities recently attributable to this label. Cellar: 5-15 years.

Great better that I thought nose was nice Blackberry pepper spice palate was bold and smooth with berries pepper and anise. nice finish
