Color: garnet

Nose: Very green and stemmy, with little fruit at all, maybe some red fruit?

Palate: Pretty bad and very surprising as this is usually one of my goto value brands. All of that stemminess is there on the bitter palate that is thin with no finish and some red fruit. Bad.

14% alc. tight dirty earthy nose. Dry with a fair bit of heat. flavors are too tight on the mid palate. Pleasant finish with flashes of vanilla & cranberry. Just missing something...strong mid-palate perhaps.

Tasted by La Cave d'Argent. This blend of Merlot (51%), Cabernet Sauvignon (32%) and Carmenere (17%) shows an opaque purple/ruby robe with ruby rim. Clean nose, showing primal aromas of blackberries, currants and vanilla. Full-bodied on the palate, with low acidity, huge but somewhat coarse tannins and black fruit flavors which mirror the nose. Medium, oaky finish. For the price, this is good wine. However, I wish that the winemaker had exercised a lighter hand with the new barrels. Drink now-12/13. (87 pts.) - Tasted 5/9/2008. [FIND IT!]

Tasted by charliesea. Interesting nose that suggested blue fruit and even tomatos. The palate showed best after some time, becoming rich and satisfying. I would agree with other tasters that decanting would help this wine show at its best. (91 pts.) - Tasted 4/30/2008. [FIND IT!]

If there was a 3.5, I'd probably give it here. It was an enjoyable wine, but better after decanting a bit. At first the bitter almost smoky flavors came through a bit overwhelming. Once your mouth acclimates to the flavors, they're pleasant. Would recommend pairing with red meats, preferably barbeque.

Tasted by green-steve. Popped and poured. Red-purple medium bodied wine. Nose of black fruits, palate of the same with a little mint. Nice acidity, fine tannins, short finish. Finished bottle the next day - still with the dark fruits but now also noting a little vegetal(green pepper) component. Overall a great weeknight sipper and an excellent QPR wine at $7. Tasted by buddy22. Slightly disappointing as I started drinking this wine with the 2000 vintage which was wonderful. Over the years this has decreased in quality slightly but noticeably. This was vegetal and had the "band aid" box quality to it. Strange but still enjoyable. I was just expecting more. (84 pts.) - Tasted 4/10/2008. [FIND IT!]

Tasted by jamscreator. Eww. Cork crumbled upon opening. Still tried it, but quickly poured it down the drain. One of my favorite daily drinkers, but something went wrong here. (flawed bottle) - Tasted 3/31/2008. [FIND IT!]
