Deep grenadine with dark ruby hues. Lovely warm intense fruit reminiscent of brambles and ripe raspberries, mingling with minty chocolate and oaky vanilla aromas. Soft cashmere tannins melt in the mouth. Rich, fruity and a long, lingering finish. The wine has a roundness and innate harmony, which belies its intensity, strength, and concentration.



Wine Advocate The 2004 Emigre, a Rhone-based blend of Grenache, Shiraz, and Mourvedre as well as Carignan and Cabernet Sauvignon, exhibits a sweet perfume of graphite, black fruits, sweet cherries, licorice, smoke, and background vanillin. Nice jammy Shiraz, stood up well to a filet

I think this was rated as one of the best wines of the year by someone. Obviously I don't keep up that much, but it is good. Needs a little time to breathe, and the shiraz dominance is evident, but its a good blend.

Wow, for $12, this was really great wine, perfect for a mid-week dinner.

Light and Spicy, little nose, tart finish

The debut vintage of “The Schist Rock” is grown in schist stone with a small layer of clay/loam to give the roots a semblance of moisture. Aromatic, with notes of minerals and pepper and a presence that invites you to imbibe with low alcohol for the region.

No great wine and food match today - although if you must know it was some locally made fried sausages with mash potato laced with creme fraiche, basil and garlic - all that was required from the wine was a...

Not bad, a lot like a Aus Sauvignon Blanc. Bright nose with pineapple and cocoanut, quite acidic, and a nice full feel in the mouth. Good with food.

Firm in texture, this is balanced with a vibrant core of red cherry, raspberry and spice flavors that persist on the chewy finish, expanding to show hints of dark chocolate and sweet spices. Best from 2010 through 2016. 5,400 cases imported.

Color: Inky purple and red



Nose: Dusty, with distinct red and blue fruit, but topped off with some lighter notes of floral and white fruit. Oak is nicely in the supportive role.



Palate: Quite restrained and tightly wound, but with good fruit from the nose, medium to full body, and tannins that are strong yet still rounded. Long finish that includes some toast, dust and red fruit, ending with violets.

Smooth. Full and fruity. Good finish.

Shows some subtlety, sliding its juicy blackberry and plum fruit through a veil of fine-grained tannins, with pepper and mineral overtones. Has a deft sense of harmony and balance. Best from 2010 through 2016. 2,200 cases imported.

54% Cabernet Sauvignon, 46% Shiraz. A firm, fine-grained and tight-knit blend based on vibrant and deeply flavoured cabernet and shiraz fruit. Its smoky, lightly meaty aromas of cassis, sweet plums and mocha/chocolate oak are backed by minty undertones of violets and menthol. Fine and silky, it’s long, willowy and charming, presenting a purity of fruit rare for this vintage. With a fleshy, creamy texture framed by bony tannins, it offers genuine elegance and refinement – hardly qualities recently attributable to this label. Cellar: 5-15 years.
