Tasted by rmalloy. If you think 90+ wines should have complexity, this is not the wine for you. A strange choice for the Wine Spectator Top 100 wines. Nonetheless, this wine is undeniably tasty, and impossible to dislike. You might find yourself quickly finishing the bottle and wondering what happened. The wine is similar to a simple but well-made pinot noir. Light-bodied, low tannins, easy to drink. Red cherries and strawberries dominate. There is a wisp of herbaceousness. Would be delicious with fresh mozzarella or burrata. A welcome break from the heavier, more serious wines I've been drinking. It makes me wonder WTF WS is thinking. Other people talk about the "tight nose," but I don't get the sense that there's any hidden substance to this wine. In sum, this wine trades profundity for deliciousness. (87 pts.) - Tasted 5/12/2008. [FIND IT!]

Tasted by esb. I very much enjoyed the '05 so was looking forward for an appropriate occasion to try this new release '06. The aroma is not complex but favors black fruits and shows integration from some oak influence, but it's not oaky. It is richer and more concentrated than the average barbera with a round middle palate and satisfying finish. It has excellent balance after a little air and medium acidity. One dimensional fruit but it makes a very good overall impression and is nice at the table. Received favorable comments from family who usually just talk, eat, drink and get on with it.
