I'm not sure what to think of this decanter design. It allows ice to be inserted in the "pocket" to keep decanted wine chilled. How much of an issue is the temperature of wine over the course of a dinner? Perhaps more so for a larger dinner party with several wines. But still, I'm left wondering how much this is necessary. Clever design, nonetheless. And then part of me looks at it and thinks, "That just ain't right"

Those stickers on rear-view mirrors always amused me. I've thought it would be neat to make up a bunch of similar decals that say "Objects appear uglier than they actually are" and go around sticking them on public bathroom mirrors.

Most of them are not in CA!!

Many of them are very restrictive about where they market their wines.

Talking with winemakers, many of them feel that CA, and some other spots, are very locally oriented and don't give WA wines much of a chance.

I think they may be correct but I have to say, I love these wines and most of the wine geeks know the quality is very high. The lay people who drink wine casually, don't have a clue though.

The one thing that really impressed me on my last visit was that there are TONS of small producers, making VERY tiny amounts of wine. Much like the garagiste movements in the central coast, where they only have a barrel or two of their wine.

I have to say, wine wise, I would NOT mind living in the pacific northwest at all!!
