Tasted by Jochems. I adviced this wine to a lot of friends over the past months. After some recent bashing of this wine on CT, I wanted to check if I'm not making a complete fool of myself ;-). The only solution to this: opening a bottle!
And I haven't changed my thoughts on this wine. But it has slightly developed:
Dark red/ruby colour, only the faintes hint of purple at the rim. Full aromas of cherry, some chocolate and floral hints. Medium bodied with nice fruit, cacoa and chewey tanins. Long, slightly bitter, finish. Seems to be setteling down a bit and has become a bit more smooth. Drink now - 2011
This wine needs a lot of air. This note was writen after the second day in the bottle. The first glass after opening was very tight and not giving much. Even slightly herbal and edgy. After about 2 hours the wine started to sing in the glass.
Its not an Extraordinary or Classic wine. But still, at ?5,99 in at Albert Hein a real steal!
I would still highly reccomend it to anyone asking for a serious wine with some tipical (Italian) character. Hard to beat at this price point. (88 pts.) - Tasted 5/11/2008. [FIND IT!]
